Erasmus Plus Project

Katowice

Meeting 2nd - 6th April 2019

 

FIRST DAY
8.45 meeting with the students, professors of the various groups, after an initial speech by the Polish coordinetor presentation of the birth of Poland with various photos and videos. 10.30 am coffee break. after the break, visit of the school and presentation of the typical Polish dance (Zuzia). after lunch meeting at school for the rst workshop, create an "intolerance" poster. Workshop "what is racism?" at 5.00 pm end of the day and return home with host friends. The first meeting was very exciting because the people we met were welcoming and friendly.

SECOND DAY
7.45 Meeting at school, visit to historical heritage from the "UNESCO" list a whole day trip to Wielicka(salt mine). Lunch in the restaurant in Wieliczka. After lunch city tour in Cracow and visit to the Saint Mary Basilic and Cathedral of del Wawel. Return to Katowice at 7.30 pm and free evening.

The Wawel Cathedral - the complete wording of the Cathedral Basilica of Saints Stanislaus and Wenceslaus is the national shrine of Poland. It was the cathedral in which the coronations of Polish kings were traditionally celebrated and is the mother church of the Archdiocese of Krakow. It stands on the Wawel Hill, south of the historic city center. 

THIRD DAY
9.15 Meeting at school. 9.30 tour in silver mine (Tarnowskie gory) underground river. Around 13.00 lunch in the forest. Free afternoon. and at 20.00 greetings dinner. Exploration in the salt mine was really strange because we found ourselves more than 100 meter below ground exploring a historic and ancient mine.

The "Wieliczka" Salt Mine is one of the most valuable monuments of material and spiritual culture in all Poland, registered on the UNESCO list of Cultural and Environmental Heritage. Every year the mine is visited by over one million of tourists from all over the world. 

FOURTH DAY
8.45 meeting at school. Workshop and presentation of the works and posters made by the various nations. There was a small presentation of typical folk dances with certificate delivery and farewell.

FIFTH DAY
8.00 am meeting at the hotel and visit to Auschwitz. Free Afternoon, and baggage preparation. During the visit to the camp we felt very sad living again the suffering that the deported people felt.

Auschwitz Birkenau, German Nazi Concentration and Extermination camp (1940-1945). 

 

 

 

Erasmus Plus Project has offered a great opportunity to build relationships with people from other culture. Its international spirit has been for us a concrete and tangible experience to reflect how our European heritage is a possible basis for a fair society.
